Dr Rachel Slavny

Research Associate

Rachel left the ARC in November 2021. While working at the ARC Rachel was a research associate with an interest in conducting autism studies with clear policy implications. She carried out research into the experiences of autistic people involved in the criminal justice system. This project was funded by the Autism Research Trust and assessed if autistic people who are arrested and end up in Court are given reasonable adjustments for their disability.

Having completed her BSc in Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London Rachel worked with expert witnesses, providing clinical reports used in criminal and care proceedings. She later returned to Royal Holloway to complete her PhD which explored cognitive biases in social cognition and how these may be associated with mental ill-health. Rachel has previously worked as a postdoctoral Research Associate at Goldsmiths on a Leverhulme funded position exploring biases in intention attribution in autistic adults.
